First steps
Three things to do after installing: open an AI site, create a folder and find a chat by its text. Plus a tour of the panel.
After you install Chatsavo, a welcome page opens. Here's what to do in the first five minutes.
1. Open ChatGPT or Claude
The Chatsavo panel appears to the left of the site's own chat list. The page shifts slightly to the right so the panel doesn't cover anything.
At first the panel is nearly empty: Chatsavo remembers chats as it sees them on the site. Titles from the native list show up under "Recent" almost immediately. A chat's text becomes searchable when you open it — open a couple of chats and you'll see how it works.
2. Create a folder and file a chat
- Click New folder in the panel header.
- Type a name, say "Work", and click Create.
- Drag a chat from the site's native list straight onto the folder in the Chatsavo panel. When the folder highlights, let go.
A confirmation appears at the bottom: "Done: '…' → Work". More in Folders and drag & drop.
3. Find something
Press Alt+Shift+F on any ChatGPT or Claude page and type a word from a chat you've opened. Results appear instantly with matches highlighted. Clicking a result opens the chat and scrolls to the right message.
Search understands word forms and filters (Pro) like after:2026-09 or has:code. Everything it can do is in Search.
A tour of the panel

Open a chat's menu with the three-dot button or a right-click: Move to…, Pin, Open in a new tab.
The toolbar icon
Clicking the Chatsavo icon opens quick search across all sites and your 10 most recent chats. Settings is here too (the gear at the bottom).
The trial
For the first 7 days you have Pro with no limits, no card needed. Settings shows how many days are left: "Pro trial: N days left". What happens after is in Plans and the trial.
