What Claude is missing

Claude is great for thinking and coding, but after a month your history is one long list. Projects exist on the free plan too, but you can have only five, and search across past chats is only on Claude's paid plans. And Claude's search goes through the model: it understands meaning but doesn't always find an exact line of code or a specific word.

How Chatsavo fixes it

Chatsavo adds the Chatsavo panel on the left side of Claude: folders, "Pinned", "Recent" and a search box.

• Folders up to 5 levels deep — for projects, clients, topics. Nested folders are in Pro.
• Drag from Claude's list straight into a Chatsavo folder, or use "Move to…" in the chat's menu.
• Search across the text of every message — fast, local, exact. A phrase in quotes is matched as a whole; word forms and one-letter typos are handled, in English and Russian.
• Filters (Pro): has:code finds only messages with code blocks, role:ai only Claude's replies.
• Jump to the message. Click a result and Chatsavo opens the chat, scrolled to the match.
• One search across Claude and ChatGPT — in Pro, with the "All sites" switch.
• Full JSON download — "Download everything (JSON)" in the extension settings; files up to 25 MB are restorable in this version. Export to Markdown and other formats — coming soon.

Across 5,000 chats, search answers in hundredths of a second (measured on a synthetic set). Chat text stays in your browser only.

How to start

1. Install Chatsavo from the install page. It works in Chrome, Edge, Yandex Browser, Opera, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi and Firefox.
2. Open claude.ai. The Chatsavo panel appears on the left.
3. Click "New folder", type a name and click "Create".
4. Drag a chat from Claude's list into the folder, or choose "Move to…" in the chat's menu.
5. Open the old chats you want to find later: Chatsavo saves the text of every chat you open.
6. Press Alt+Shift+F and try a query like "useEffect" has:code (filters are in Pro and the trial).

Questions and answers

Do I need a paid Claude plan?

No. Chatsavo works on Claude's free plan too: folders and search are features of the extension, not of Claude.

How is this different from Claude's built-in search?

Built-in search over past chats is paid-only and goes through the model, by meaning. Chatsavo searches locally by exact words and phrases, with filters, and takes you straight to the message. They don't get in each other's way.

Can I search Claude and ChatGPT at once?

Yes, in Pro: use the "All sites" switch above the results. On the free version search covers the current site.

Why can't I find an old chat?

A chat's text enters the search when you open it. Open the chat once and it will be found from then on. Titles from Claude's chat list are picked up right away.

Do my chats go to your server?

No. Folders and searchable text stay in your browser. Our server receives only your key, a random device ID, the browser and the extension version; chat text — never.

How much does it cost?

The first 7 days are Pro for free, no card. After that, a free-forever version or Pro. Prices are on the pricing page. Ruble payments arrive at launch.

What about other AIs?

ChatGPT already works — see ChatGPT folders. Gemini, Grok and Alice are in testing; DeepSeek, Perplexity and GigaChat come later.
