Key and devices

Coming soon. Payments, key entry and device management arrive at launch. Today the early version needs no key: Pro is on for the first 7 days, then the free version. Below is how it will work.

What a key is

A key unlocks Pro. It looks like this:

SAVO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Keys work the same way across all Savo products. A Savo All bundle key works for Chatsavo and future Savo products.

Where to get your key

After payment, your key is shown on screen. If you entered an email at checkout, it's also sent there. Save it in a password manager or your notes: you'll need it on a new computer or after reinstalling your browser.

If you paid from inside the extension, the key usually activates itself in that browser: Chatsavo picks it up after payment, no typing needed.

Activating manually

1. Click the Chatsavo icon in the toolbar, then the gear to open Settings.
2. Find the license section and paste the whole key, including SAVO-. Case and extra spaces don't matter.
3. Confirm. The badge in the settings header changes to Pro.

If Chatsavo says the key is invalid, check that you copied all of it. Keys contain no 0, 1, O or I, so those can't be confused — most likely the last character got cut off.

How many devices

To Chatsavo, a device is a browser on a computer where the key is activated. Chrome and Edge on one laptop are two devices. Chrome at work and at home is two as well.

One key activates on 5 devices. If you try a sixth, Chatsavo tells you the limit is reached and shows the list of devices so you can free one up.

Freeing up a device

• On this device: in Chatsavo's settings, in the license section, unlink the key. The slot is freed and this browser moves to the free version. Folders and the index stay.
• On a device you can't reach (old laptop, reset browser): free the slot from the device list Chatsavo shows when you hit the limit, or contact support.

Before reinstalling your browser or OS, unlink the key first so a "ghost" doesn't take up a slot.

Offline

Chatsavo checks the key when the browser starts and once a day. Offline, Pro works until the last license verification expires, then for up to 7 additional days. This can total up to 14 days from the last successful verification. Once you're back online, the check runs automatically.

Folders, search and JSON data downloads run locally and don't need the internet at all; files up to 25 MB can be restored as backups in this version.

What our server sees during the check

Your key, a random device ID, the browser type and the extension version. No chat texts, titles or page URLs are sent. More in Privacy.

Questions

My key stopped working. Check your subscription: monthly and yearly Pro work while the subscription is paid. If it's paid but Chatsavo shows "Free version", open Settings — the extension will re-check. Still stuck? Contact support with the last 4 characters of your key.

Can I give my key to someone else? Keys are personal. For a team, separate keys work better.

Do folders sync between devices? Not yet: each device keeps its own folders and index. End-to-end encrypted sync is coming later. You can download all your data as JSON at any time: Settings → Your data → Download everything (JSON). This version can restore Chatsavo JSON files up to 25 MB.
